Electronic Drum Set

If you’ve been getting too many complains from the neighbours maybe the time has come to either move house or invest in an electric drum kit. This is just one of the many advantages of choosing electric. Many kits now come with a headphone output so that you can practice to your heart’s content, while your family or neighbours can carry on watching the television in peace.

Better electric drum kits genuinely emulate the sound of traditional kits and this includes the way you strike the drum and also the pressure that’s applied. Until recently, the kits with the most professional sounds and effects have only been accessible to the high end of the market and the price has made them unaffordable to the average amateur. However, bigger companies have started producing mid-range kits with some of the high-end features and this is set to revolutionise the electric market.

Electric kits are appealing on a number of levels. Apart from noise reduction they also take up a lot less space than a traditional set of drums. So, if you currently have to practice in a bedroom or living room then an electric kit could be a viable solution. Electric drum kits are also easy and compact to pack up and transport. They are often constructed from lightweight metal that is also extremely durable so can tolerate the hammering of drumsticks without toppling over.

As with traditional drum kits, you can choose exactly what you’re likely to need from your kit and what it’s going to be used for in terms of the drums and features included. Most models will have the option to include toms, cymbals, a snare and a hi-hat. There is often also the opportunity to adjust the sound to create different musical effects. Obviously, there is a huge range in prices when it comes to buying your drum kit. This reflects the complexity of the technology offered by kits but also means that there’s a good selection of electric kits on the market, from entry level or beginners set-ups, to studio quality. Needless to say, this is one area of technology that most parents are keen to embrace as they can give in to their drumming enthusiast children without having to invest in ear plugs.
