Alesis has been a leader in the electronic drum field for over twenty years and is a name that one can trust. Alesis has a wide range of electronic drum kits to offer so everyone from a beginner to the seasoned professional can find a digital drum kit that will match their needs and budget. A perfect option that is in the middle of the road as far as options and price range is the Alesis DM10 digital drum kit. This is the perfect electronic drum kit for drummers at every skill level. The set will continue to grow with the beginner and intermediate players, yet the professional will find that the kit has all the options and function they will need.

The Alesis DM10 electronic drum kit offers the RealHead drum pads that are made to closely mimic the feel of a traditional acoustic drum set. The secret is in the material used to construct the drum pads. Alesis uses Mylar for the drum pads and this surpasses the materials being used by the other companies. Nothing comes closer to producing a real acoustic sound than the Mylar drum pads. The drum pads are also dual zone, meaning that the drummer can program a different sound for the outer edges of the pad. The RealHead kick pad can be used with just about any single or double kick pedal. This option just further enhances the customization of the electronic drum kit. The electronic drum kit includes twelve inch Surge hi hat cymbal, a thirteen inch Surge Crash with choke, and a sixteen inch Surge triple zone Ride cymbal with choke. Since Surge cymbals are created from a genuine alloy coated with a special dampening layer they sound and behave like real cymbals because they in essence are real cymbals.

This all comes together on the patented ErgoRack. The rack is designed to be ergonomically correct utilizing a curved shape. The ErgoRack is composed of standard one and a half inch tubing that is compatible with almost all drum makers kits. Metal clamps provide sturdiness and make set up and breakdown fast and easy. The rack has enough extra room that you can add drum pads or cymbals at a later time so that the set can grow with the drummer and their abilities.

The Alesis DM10 digital drum kit has full MIDI capabilities meaning that one can download directly to your PC or Mac, or connect to a MP3 player or CD player to the electronic drum kit. The digital drum kit also has Dynamic Articulation meaning that the sound will increase with an increase in intensity to the drum pad. Dynamic Articulation is unique to the Alesis brand of electronic drum kits.

Laying down hot tracks has never been easier or more economical. The Simmons SD9K electronic drum kit caters to drummers from beginning level to the professional. The best thing about the Simmons digital drum kit is the low price. This economic set offers many of the same features of the expensive sets but at a price more users can afford. The versatility and customization options available with this kit make this option and attractive choice for those seeking to purchase and electronic drum kit.

The Simmons SD9K digital drum kit comes packed with over 700 realistic sounds allowing for countless combinations and endless opportunities of self expression. In order to achieve this many sounds with a traditional kit, multiple expensive and rare pieces would have to be purchased. This would not only be expensive, but the amount of room to store the unit would be immense. The money saved by not having to invest in so many instruments alone more than pays for the electronic drum kit.

The digital drum kit also includes over one hundred preset songs that the musician can practice along with covering multiple genres of music so that it is well rounded. If this were not enough, the ability to add another one hundred songs is also included. Practicing will never be boring again with so many song options available. A built in metronome carries a range from thirty to two hundred and eighty beats per minute. This feature is an incredibly huge help during practice.

The Simmons electronic drum kit comes with dual zone snare and cymbal pads and the cymbals have choke potential as well. The dual zoned pads allow for the drummer to customize preset sounds so that when the outside of the pad is hit it will produce a separate sound than the center of the drum pad. This again saves room since the user will not need as many pieces to achieve the same number of sounds. The Simmons electronic drum kit has forty preset kits and the space to load almost sixty more user kits. The electronic drum kit is USB compatible so that one can plug the unit into a computer and record music. The digital drum kit can also be used with a MP3 player or a CD player so that the user can play along with any song of their choice.

I would recommend this set to any musician looking to purchase an electronic drum kit. This kit is great for the first time user as well as the more experienced drummer. The Simmons SD9K will offer endless hours of use whether for practice or for live performances.

Being a drummer can be an expensive past time both in financial terms and time commitment. In order to perfect the craft, a drummer will need to practice, practice, and practice. For some, this is not an issue. They might have a special room that has been sound proofed or they might have an altogether separate structure to use for practicing. But for most drummers, the garage or basement of their home doubles as a practice room. This can pose problems since neighbors and family members usually do not want to listen to hours of banging on drums. Especially when you are first learning and the sounds emitted by your drum kit may seem like mindless thumping as opposed to music. One solution to this issue that is also easy on the pocketbook is to purchase an electronic drum kit. While some digital drum kits are very expensive, many manufacturers cater to the beginning drummer with less expensive electronic drum kits. These digital drum kits can be customized by adding additional pieces once you can afford them.

One such model is the DD_502MKII. The price on this electronic drum kit is very reasonable and most can afford this digital drum kit. The great thing about a digital drum kit is that the actual set does not take up much room. Weighing in at a mere fifty five pounds, this lightweight, portable set will meet all your needs. The set will not take up much room in your practice area and can be broken down and set up quickly for performances or whenever you need to move the set.

The electronic drum kit comes with over two hundred sounds, twenty preset kits and you can program another ten kits with your own customized sounds. This allows unlimited potential for unique sounds and self expression. A traditional drum kit does not have these capabilities. While some will argue that a traditional drum set creates a resonance that cannot be matched by an electronic drum kit it is important to keep in mind that technology has been applied that make these electronic kits sound as good as a traditional drum kit. And the best part is electronic drum kits are a fraction of the cost.

Another great feature of the DD-502MKII is that you can use the included headphones when playing and no one can hear the music except you. Now you can practice day or night. Whenever your schedule will allow and you don’t have to worry about disrupting family members or neighbors. You can also utilize the preset kits and play along with them for extra practice.

The choice is clear for those that need to practice quietly and have money constraints. If you are a beginning drummer then this set is a great option for you.

Those just starting out in the music industry might not be able to justify spending thousands of dollars on their electronic drum kit. While the price of digital drum sets can be a bit daunting, do not let that prohibit you from trying to find a set that matches your skill level and your budget. A perfect electronic drum kit for a beginning drummer is the Ashton RHYTHMUXV electronic drum kit. The kit comes with everything the beginner will need to hone their percussion skills and yet will still be easy on the pocketbook. Far from basic, this set has some of the features included in the more expensive sets and will help the novice drummer perfect their skill level.

The Ashton electronic drum kit comes with 108 preprogrammed sounds that will offer a wide mix of music genres. Being able to create a wide assortment of sounds digitally will enable you to create unique music without having to purchase a litany of different instruments. With a traditional drum set, you are limited in the amount of unique sounds you can create. The digital drum kit also includes ten preset drum kits with the ability to add five customized drum kits. Ashton’s electronic drum kit also includes a dual trigger snare pad so that you can create multiple sounds with one pad. This is more than enough for the novice or beginning user to dabble with. Of course the digital drum kit is equipped with a digital metronome and programmable clicks. The set also is outfitted with a USB port allowing you to connect to a PC or Mac and download or upload your music.

The electronic drum kit comes complete with the following pieces:
•	Drum Pedal
•	Dual Trigger Snare Pad
•	3 Tom Pads
•	Ride & Crash Pads
•	Hi Hat Pad
•	Hi Hat Controller
•	Stereo Mini Jack Connectors

This electronic drum kit will be sturdy enough to use daily for practicing while still being compact enough to fit into tight spaces. It is perfect for those that live in a duplex or an apartment where space is at a premium. While this set is not a fancy, high tech digital drum kit, it will be adequate enough to more than accommodate the beginning user. Separate components can be purchased and added on at your convenience as your skill level and your budget increases. Overall, it would be tough to find a digital drum kit that offers the quality as this set for the price.

Those looking for an inexpensive yet quality digital drum kit should seriously consider the Benson Medeli line of electronic drum kits. Benson Medeli offers a number of electronic drum kit options for the new and experienced drummer to choose from. The benefits of a digital drum kit versus a traditional drum kit include considerations such as price, practice, different kits, preprogrammed sounds and learning tools. Technology in the music field is being increased everyday and allows for options that were not possible even ten years ago. Electronic drum kits can mimic the sound of hundreds of percussion instruments and kit.

Benson Medeli is one of the least expensive digital drum kits available yet the kits still retain their high standards of quality. The sturdy rack will withhold anything that you can dish out from intense playing, hours of practice and being moved from site to site. The rack is a standard size so that it is compatible with equipment from other manufacturers so you can add any existing pieces you may already own. The digital drum kit includes four drum pads as well as three cymbal pads that include and choke and crash function.

Preprogrammed with over one hundred popular drum and percussion sounds the scope of music genre is covered. The preset sounds are true sounds that will sound like the real thing when you play. This eliminates the need to purchase additional costly acoustic pieces. The digital drum kit also includes forty preset patterns that you can use for practice or performance. The digital drum kit is also equipped with a USB and MIDI output. This offers even more opportunities to expand your repertoire and improve you skill. The USB outlet can be used to connect a MP3 player or your CD player so that you can play along with your favorite songs. The MIDI output lets you download sounds from the internet or upload your performances to your PC. You can also use the MIDI signal to interact with software designed for drumming practice. Another fantastic practice feature is the fact that the set is very quiet unless it is connect to an amplifier. This means that you can practice without disturbing family or neighbors. An acoustic drum kit does not offer any of these conveniences.

While this set does not include some of the options that more expensive digital drum kits might include, it is more than adequate enough for the beginning to intermediate player to hone their skills and even use during performances. I do not think you can find a better value for your money.

Playing the drums can be a fulfilling pastime or a serious job that provides a source of income for some. What equipment you will require greatly depends on the style of music that you are playing. Rock and roll drummers will need a different drum kit than someone who is playing jazz or blues music. Each genre of music has its own unique sound and you will want to keep that in mind when you purchase your drum kit. Some musicians prefer to use traditional drum kits and others like the ease of digital drum kits. Digital drum kits do not have to be tuned and will always produce a great sound. Traditional drum kits are more personal and depending on the material they can produce a sound unique to that particular to that piece.

Jazz and blues players will most likely use three piece drum kits. Many artists choose to purchase a set made of wood for the uniqueness and the personality the pieces can offer. Different types of wood will offer different sound resonances. Budget will of course be a factor in deciding which drums kits are the best option for you personally. More expensive woods will offer attractive benefits, but those drum kits will cost much more than less exotic types of wood. Usually maple, oak and birch are the more commonly used woods, but other more exotic woods including Bubinga are also used. Your choice will depend on the sound you wish to achieve as well as the limitations placed on your pocketbook.

More and more jazz artists are turning to digital drum kits as opposed to traditional wooden or metal drum kits. One benefit of digital kits is that they always sound perfect. There is never a need to tune these kits. This is a huge time saver and an attractive benefit. Digital drum kits are also less bulky and easier to transport and set up. The down side is that they are less personalized and I personally find their look to be bland. They are difficult to personalize to your own tastes and style and they do not convey your personality to the audience. Personality is an important factor, especially in the jazz genre. You want your look to be distinct and your drum kit to reflect who you are to your spectators.

Jazz and blues sounds will mainly utilize snare drums as well as brush style drumsticks. This will create the unique sound that gives jazz and blues music that distinctive vibe. Other tools that these genres make use of are symbols. As long as your drum kit includes these elements, you can feel free to customize your set to be as individual and distinctive as you are. Options include purchasing a new set, a used set, or you can even mix and match pieces to create set that is one of a kind like you. Whichever avenue you pursue be sure to research your available options before you purchase. Drum kits are meant to weather the test of time and you will want to select the best quality set that you can afford.

Who doesn’t dream of being a rock and roll legend? Millions of people fantasize about being the drummer of a popular rock band. But for most of us, this dream will never materialize. Thankfully, there are now video games that allow us to indulge in that fantasy for very little investment. Of course, there are those of you who are “real” drummers and actually know how to make music and not just noise. For those more like me, the ones who cannot master the art of drumming, which digital drum kit we use to play Rock Band does not matter. However, if you are actually an experienced musician and you are in the market for a drum kit you might want to check out Yamaha or Ion digital drum kits.

Yamaha drums are in a class of their own; there is little argument that they are a leader in the music industry. Yamaha can offer both traditional drum kits and digital kits. Yamaha carried five lines of distinctive digital drum kits to choose from. These kits are all high quality and are geared for the most part toward the experienced user. One line is featured as a learning kit, but the other four are geared toward those who know what they are doing. Yamaha focuses on sound and feel of the drum kits. They strive to achieve not only a sound that mimics a traditional wood or metal drum, but they also try to have the digital drum kit feel similar to the traditional kit. Feel is an important part of the experience of playing so it is nice that Yamaha takes this into account.

The Yamaha digital drum kit lines allow the player to perform and to improve by offering options such as the ability to track the accuracy of your playing. As with most digital kits, an artist can record directly from the Yamaha drum sets. The DTXPRESS line from Yamaha utilizes rubber to make the drums actually less noisy when playing. This is a great option for the garage band or the apartment dweller who has to worry about disturbing the neighbors.

Ion digital drum kits are not as renowned as the Yamaha brand. Ion has two distinct features that set their drums apart. The first is the ability to personalize the set. Ion drum kits allow you to position the individual pieces where you want them. Most sets are prefabricated molds that do not allow for this type of customization. This is a nice touch and definitely a bonus. The other main factor the Ion tries to capitalize on is the fact that you can use the set to play the popular video game Rock Band and then just switch the game controller module and you can play live. I guess this is nice if you are both a gamer and an artist.

Overall, Yamaha just has more to in the way of choices to offer their customer. Their digital drum kits are top of the line and produce excellent sound quality. Yamaha drums also have a very real feel to them when playing that is a noted extra that artists like. Overall, Ion is not really competition for Yamaha. I do like the custom placement feature, but the gaming ability would not affect my purchasing decision.

When purchasing your drum kit, the choices can be overwhelming. Name brand, quality and price are all valid considerations. Your drum kit should meet your needs in all areas including your pocketbook. This does not mean to imply that you should purchase the least expensive set of drums to be found. Your set needs to last and quality should be a concern as well as price. So how do you determine which set is the correct blend of quality and price to suit your needs?

The first step is to assess your needs. Will the set be for practicing, or performing? What is the current skill level that you posses? Is this a hobby or something more? How many pieces should your set contain? Should you buy a digital drum kit or traditional drum kit? Once you assess your needs and expectations, you will have a more clear idea of what price and quality of set you are in the market to purchase.

Sound is one very important component of a drum kit. If the set is too cheap, the sound will not properly resonate. Properly test the set by playing it before deciding to purchase. Try multiple sets and experiment with traditional and digital drum kits. Digital drum kits are nice because they are in tune. If you are a novice, the sound may not be nearly as important to you as price will be. By the same token, a more experience drummer can make a cheap set sound better. You are not going to know until you actually sit down and play on the drum kit.

Another really important factor in the drum kit you purchase is going to be price. What is your budget? Is it a beer budget or a champagne budget? If you can afford a five piece drum set then go ahead and purchase all the pieces. If you can only afford three pieces of a set, then that narrows down your choices. Again you need to consider what your needs are. You may need to sacrifice quantity for quality, or you might not care as much about quality if you are only playing for your own pleasure. The options are a personal preference.

Some ideas to get more for your money include buying a used drum kit. There is no shortage of used sets available. You can search at local music stores for a used set. Many drummers trade their sets in for a more expensive set. A pawn broker may also have drum kits available for sale. A quick call to the local pawn shops in your area will let you know if this avenue is worth pursuing. Search through the local classified advertisements and see if anyone is trying to sell a kit that might interest you. What I like the best about these options is the fact that you can actually test the kit before purchasing it. There are no unpleasant surprises.

Another money saving idea is to shop online for your drum kit. You can scour online advertisements and auction sites. The two main objections I have with this method are that you cannot try the set before you purchase, and you will have to pay for shipping. Shipping can be quite expensive on something as large as a drum kit so I recommend exhausting all other avenues before pursing online options.

Whether you buy a digital drum kit or a traditional kit and whether it is new or used the most important things is that you are happy. Enjoy your set and play without abandon. If you play for the love of making music, it won’t matter what type of set you have.
